Off-Trip Insurance: Program Terms & Conditions
Off-Trip Insurance
Program Terms & Conditions
This page is intended for those who have purchased off-trip insurance. If you have not purchased off-trip insurance, these terms do not apply.
This off-trip insurance program (this “Program”) provides coverage for your vehicles when they are not being rented on a Turo trip. This insurance covers eligible vehicles between bookings when they are used for Turo-related business purposes, like driving to the delivery destination or to a mechanic. This Program does not provide coverage for personal use of your vehicle. Driving for any other business use other than for use specifically on the Turo.com platform is not covered. Driving or renting the car for any private rental use is explicitly prohibited
These Off-Trip Insurance Terms & Conditions (these “Terms”) are the terms and conditions of the Off-Trip Insurance Policy obtained for you (the “Policy”) by Tint Embedded Insurance Services, LLC (“Tint,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Your participation in the Program is subject to the terms, conditions, and provisions of the Policy, and these Terms are in addition to the Policy and do not alter the coverage afforded by the Policy.
The Policy under this Program is a surplus lines policy underwritten by the applicable insurance company as stated in your certificate of insurance. By using our insurance services, you agree to our Producer Terms of Service, available at tint.ai/producer-terms-of-service, which are incorporated into and made part of this Agreement by reference.
If you have questions or want more information about the Program, please email us at support@tint.ai.

C. Program Conditions. Coverage under this Program is limited to the commercial uses described above and does not take the place of any personal vehicle insurance you may be required to carry. Coverage under this Program only applies to vehicles while they are active on the Platform. In addition, no coverage is provided under this Program during any private rental use of a vehicle, including coverage for any business use incidental to or related to the private rental use of a vehicle. We reserve the right to refuse coverage, deny any claim, or otherwise immediately cancel your coverage, at our sole discretion, due to the private rental use of your vehicle. You agree that you are responsible for notifying us of any change to your vehicle’s Platform status or other material information, including updates to your vehicle’s address.
Deductible. For each approved claim, you accept and agree that your claim payment will be reduced by the agreed upon deductible as shown in your portal, ID card, or certificate of insurance.
Plan Options. You have the option to select coverage plans on a per-vehicle basis. Certain plans require telematic devices in order to effectively administer the plan. If you choose a telematic device plan but fail to connect your device, you may be automatically enrolled in a non-telematic plan or your coverage will be canceled, as described below.
A. Telematic Plans. Telematic plans require the installation and use of an approved telematic device. Approved devices are only those devices or subscriptions listed here as a supported device (each a “Telematic Device”). The following sections are applicable to all telematic plans:Telematic Device. You agree, as a condition to coverage and at all times while coverage is in effect, to use an approved telematic device that records information about Covered Vehicle driving behavior, including distance driven in all Covered Vehicles covered by the Policy. You agree to provide us with monthly mileage for each Covered Vehicle electronically through a means approved by us.
Offline Device. If your Telematic Device remains offline for 48 hours or more, we may cancel your policy or deny coverage during the offline period. In our discretion, we may provide you a one-time grace period to install and begin using the Telematic Device in each Covered Vehicle; however, we reserve the right to deny coverage or any claim made during any period that the Telematic Device is offline or not installed.
Failure to Connect. In the event that the Telematic Device fails to connect or transmit data as required for coverage, you acknowledge and agree that such failure may result in the denial of coverage or claims, and may also lead to the cancellation of your policy. It is your responsibility to ensure that each Covered Vehicle is equipped with a properly functioning and approved Telematic Device that remains connected and transmits data consistently. If we detect a failure to connect or transmit data, we may, at our sole discretion, provide you with a notice to rectify the connection issue within a specified period of time. We reserve the right to deny any claims or coverage during the time in which the Telematic Device is not connected or transmitting data as required by these Terms.
Automatic Migration. You acknowledge and agree that repeated failure to connect or transmit data may result, in our discretion, in the immediate termination of your coverage or the automatic migration of your insurance policy to a non-telematic plan defined below. Accordingly, by purchasing a telematic plan, you agree to waive, in advance, any notice requirements otherwise available to you in these Terms or by law, and you agree to pay any additional premium charges or fees that become due, and to be subject to any increase in your deductible, following any such automatic migration to a non-telematic plan.
B. Non-Telematic Plans. Non-telematic plans do not require the installation and use of a Telematic Device. In addition, non-telematic plans are not subject to the mileage allowance contained in Section 5 below. However, by signing up for a non-telematic plan, you agree that we may collect applicable vehicle and driving data from the Platform regarding your vehicle usage on the Platform, including but not limited to odometer readings for each trip start and end.
Mileage Allowance & Additional Premium. This Section 5 applies to telematic plans (Section 4(a)) only:
a. Each covered vehicle is protected while driven for business purposes up to the first 300 miles driven per month. For miles that exceed 300 miles on a monthly basis, an additional monthly premium will be due and payable to us in the amount stated in your applicable invoice or portal.
b. For vehicle portfolio owners, the mileage limit will be aggregated across the number of insured vehicles that are connected to a telematic device. For example, if you purchase insurance and connect your telematic device on 3 vehicles, your mileage limit will be 900 miles in the aggregate across your 3 vehicles. Adding an insured vehicle mid-month to your vehicle portfolio will not increase nor count against your aggregate mileage cap until the subsequent month. For more information on our flexible mileage program, visit the page here.ID Cards; Certificates of Insurance. We will provide you with an insurance ID card and/or certificate of insurance evidencing your participation in the Program. Your ID card will be effective as of your coverage purchase date. In the event that the Policy expires or is canceled or terminated, your ID card and certificate will also expire or be canceled or terminated on the same date. You agree that advance notice of any such expiration, cancellation, or termination is not required. A copy of the Policy may be provided to you upon your written request to us. You may also, at any time, request a certificate of insurance to be sent to you for any Covered Vehicle.
Add or Remove Vehicles. You may add or remove vehicles from coverage at any time during your contract period. Coverage will begin or end on any new or removed vehicle, as applicable, as of the date that you request it.
Payment Terms & Fees. You agree to pay all premiums, taxes, and disclosed service fees, including any additional Mileage Premium or credit card processing fees, in advance at the start of each month. You agree that your chosen payment method will be charged automatically for all premiums due upon our invoice to you for each monthly billing period. Coverage will begin following your successful payment. We may cancel your coverage at any time for nonpayment of any or all amounts due. We reserve the right to deny coverage or any claim for any period during which any or all of your payment remains unpaid.
Cancellation; Sale or Transfer; Refunds. You may cancel your coverage at any time for any reason. In the event of cancellation, your coverage will continue for the remainder of the billing period in which it was canceled, and no premium will be refunded for the remainder of that period. If you sell or transfer your vehicle to any third party, coverage under this Program will terminate for that vehicle immediately upon such sale or transfer. You may not assign any coverage under this Program. In the event of an accident leading to a total loss, you will be refunded your pro-rata premium as of the date of the accident.
Reporting a Claim. Claims must be reported to us promptly and supported by sufficient documentation, including photos, receipts, police reports, which may need to be provided to us, at our discretion and upon our request, in order to resolve your claim. At a minimum, all claims submitted to us must include multiple detailed photos of the damage to your vehicle and, if applicable, photos of the repaired vehicle. At our discretion, claims involving theft, vandalism, hit and run, or other criminal acts require police reports. Failure to provide evidence of damage may result in the denial of your claim.
Lienholders; Additional Interests. You may add additional interest parties to your certificate(s) of insurance via your portal or by contacting us in writing. By adding one or more additional interests, you agree that we may contact any listed additional interest parties in the event of a reported claim, change or cancellation of coverage, or other change to your certificate of insurance (e.g. change of name or address) for the applicable vehicle.

A breach of this section will result in your claim(s) being denied and policy voided immediately, and we reserve the right to pursue legal action against you as a result of such conduct.
Audit Rights. We reserve the right to audit your vehicle and records as they relate to your participation in this Program at any time during the policy period and for 1 year after to ensure compliance with its terms. In addition, you agree that we may audit data from the Platform or other third party vendors to verify mileage and on/off trip periods. In the event of an audit, you agree to provide us with access to all relevant information and cooperate fully.
